10 After-School Questions That Will Actually Get Your Kids Talking!
As a parent, we want to get in touch and learn what our kids are getting up to all day at school! We love listening to their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and involving them in a conversation as these all help develop their communication skills as well as our relationship with them.
Our typical "How was your day?" question is normally followed by responses like "good", "fine" or "OK" which don't really tell that much. If you're eager to get your kids talking, try these after-school conversation starters below and you may get your kid share more than just a one word answer!
✅ Don't ask questions right away.
✅ Ask them open-ended questions.
✅ Chat casually with your kids.
✅ Pause if they don't seem to be engaging.
