The Benefits of Self Care Start Early!
As adults, we know that we should be practicing our own methods of self-care in order to take a break and refresh mentally, physically and emotionally... but what about our kids? Our little ones may not face the same stresses that we do, but teaching self-care at a young age can teach our children the importance of caring for their own mental and physical health as they grow. It's never to early to learn self-care so check out these 6 Self-Care Tips for Kids!
6 Tips to Encourage Self Care for Kids
1. Practice daily affirmations
Positive affirmations are great for children's confidence and helps them truly believe in themselves. Help them build a good sense of self-esteem and a positive mindset by starting their day with our downloadable printouts below!
2. Talk about emotions
As children grow up, they start to experience different kinds of emotions like happiness, excitement, frustration and even embarrassment. As parents, we have a very important role in helping them explore, understand, and manage these feelings. If you need help figuring out where to get stared, check out Adora's recommendations for 3 Books that Normalize Big Feelings.
3. Spend time outside
Spending time outdoors is good for mental and physical health! Enjoying some sunshine and exploring nature together is a great way to practice self-care and if done often, your little one might even use this as a method of self-care as they grow. Go on a nature walk, have a picnic as a family or stroll down to your local park and enjoy some outdoor self-care!
4. Wind-down with calming baths
Having a dedicated bath-time routine helps kids become more structured while also teaching self-care skills. Getting our little one's into the tub is not always easy, but introducing a bath toy can make taking a bath turn into a time for calming nurturing play. Wind-down with bath toys from Adora.
5. Enjoy relaxing snuggles
Your hugs are the ultimate calming tool to your baby. They know they are safe with you! Hugs release a happy hormone known as oxytocin. A rush of oxytocin can lead to many benefits: better sleep, improved heart health, and stress reduction. Check out our favorites toys for snuggles from Adora!
